Online software and services provider Primus Monday acquired electronic sales solutions
company 2order.com Inc. in a stock deal
valued at $90 million.
The strategic merger will enable Primus (PKSI)
to deliver a complete e-service software solution — including sales,
marketing and support — for the exploding business-to-business marketplace.
Primus plans to add to its e-service software family with the 2order Net
Marketplace, an advanced suite of e-sales software
that personalizes buying and selling experiences online through advanced
product configuration and customization. 2order Net Marketplace acts as a
personal sales assistant, helping buyers to define their requirements, find
the most appropriate products and services and adapt custom solutions to fit
their needs.
ThePrimus e-service software family helps businesses build and
maintain valuable customer relationships, and empowers clients to choose
their communication channel — web, e-mail, voice — and receive a
knowledge-enabled response every time.
The combined companies will have approximately 270 employees worldwide and
more than 100 customers, including 3M, 3Com, Brio Technology, Bell
Helicopter, Carrier Corp., Cirrus Logic, Compaq, Fair Isaac, GTE
Internetworking, Gulfstream Aerospace, New Century Mortgage and Novell.
“Both Primus and 2order.com have been successful in helping companies
manage complexity — whether support solutions or product configuration —
while increasing
return-on-investment,” said Michael Brochu, Primus president and chief
executive officer. The Primus product family combined with 2order.com
represents a significant step
ahead in eService software for both business-to-business and
business-to-consumer companies.”
