Media delivery provider RealNetworks Inc. Monday established partnerships
with 45 new content partners for real.com Take5, including eMusic.com, Riffage.com and Garageband.com. An agreement with Liquid Audio, to promote secure music downloads from the Liquid
Music Network, was also announced.
The content partners’ programming is available to Internet users through Take5, a programming showcase that is
built into RealPlayer 7. Take5 features a streaming media selection
of music and entertainment clips and and now links to downloadable music.
The co-marketing arrangement between RealNetworks and Liquid Audio, Inc.
allows RealJukebox users access to Liquid Audio’s catalog of music downloads
through the RealJukebox and Real.com Guide.
Jay Smit, senior vice president of new media for EMI recorded Music, endorses the partnership. “By promoting our ‘Live from the Capitol Tower’ webcasts through Take5 and
the Real.com Network, music fans are able to follow their favorite recording
artists from the beginning of their careers, and get a peek inside Capitol’s
recording studios as they never have before,” he said.
“This is a great way to
drive traffic to our wide variety of recording artists, from Frank Sinatra
to rising star ‘Sammie,’ by reaching out to our fans, and keep them coming
back for more,” he said.
