RealJukebox Extends Play List Via New Marketing Agreement

RealNetworks Inc., which provides online service for the delivery and receipt of music and video on the Web, and Liquid Audio Inc., a provider of services and software that enable the digital delivery of music via the Internet, expanded their alliance Monday. The pair established a music marketing agreement that enables registered RealJukebox users to preview, purchase and download music distributed by Liquid Audio.

Liquid Audio (LQID) will make its catalog of secure music downloads available to users of the RealNetworks’(RNWK) Internet music designation and the GetMusic menu in RealJukebox software.

Liquid Audio will provide the music catalog and back-end music hosting and delivery services to enable RealJukebox users to access music promotions and secure music downloads. The Liquid Plug-in adds to the RealJukebox the sound, lyrics, album liner notes and cover art of Liquid Music, in addition to copy control and digital rights management.

This relationship gives RealJukebox users a tremendous opportunity to experience new music, according to Mark Hall, vice president, media publishing, RealNetworks.

“By enabling users to access the Liquid Catalog through the Real.com Guide, we are expanding the wealth of digital music content available to our users and making it easier to purchase secure content,” he said.
