, Concentric Target New Domain Dwellers

Domain name registrar Tuesday teamed with Concentric Network Corp. in a co-marketing agreement designed to appeal to newly registered domain name holders.

Concentric will invest $5 million in, and the two will jointly market applications for building a customized Web site and e-commerce storefronts.

Once registrants complete their domain name registration with, Concentric will alternately be featured as one of the Web hosting providers recommended to them, allowing registrants to begin immediately using their newly acquired domain, the companies said. Users will have access to the ConcentricHost suite of Web design, hosting and e-commerce services.

“We tailored our Web hosting and e-commerce services to address each step in the path to conducting business on the Web,” said Henry R. Nothhaft, chairman, president and CEO of Concentric Network.

“By cross promoting our services on the site, we have the chance to reach potential
customers who have taken the first step — domain name registration — toward leveraging the power of the Internet. Similarly, will expand their potential customer base by providing Concentric’s audience with an easy way to register a domain name on the Internet, directly from Concentric’s Web Solutions site.” has been in the news recently as one of the first registrars to be chosen as a successor when Network Solutions Inc.’s domain name registration contract ends next year.
