Retek Information
Systems
in Minneapolis, a
business unit of HNC Software Inc., recently delivered its eCommerce Solution.

The solution is composed of the Retek Enterprise Solution, the Oracle Internet
Commerce Server, and Aptex SelectCast intelligent server software.

The new solution is available to traditional retailers who wish to expand into
the Internet consumer direct market, as well as to Consumer Direct specialized
retailers including catalogue, electronic commerce, kiosk, home delivery,
direct mail, telemarketing, and home shopping companies.

The Consumer Direct vertical adds to Retek’s previously established Fashion,
Mass Merchant, Hardlines, Grocery and Department Stores verticals.

“Up until now, back-end systems integration has comprised at least two-thirds
of the total cost of an e-commerce site, and has resulted in enormous
development challenges for most major Web sites,” says Kurt Waltenbaugh, Retek
executive director and head of the new Consumer Direct vertical.

“With the
eCommerce Solution, you get out-of-the-box seamless integration with all back
office functions. This results in a ‘no wait’ ordering system, with a view to
current inventory positions, accurate shipping schedules, and the ability for
customers to rapidly configure products and pricing in real time.”

The solution includes behavior profiling, market basket analysis and marketing
automation elements. Also included is SelectCast personalization software from
Aptex, Retek’s sister company, which tailors advertising, product offers, and
content based on individual consumer preferences and purchase histories.
Pricing details were not disclosed.
