The Intermarket Group’s eCommerce Almanac
reports that the average CEO from its listed firms that are publicly held
earned just under $225,000 in cash compensation during 1997, according to a
survey of SEC filings.

E*Trade CEO Christos Cotsakos led the pack with $447,609 in salary and bonus
while
Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos brought up the rear with a salary of just $79,197.

Top marketing executives — vice presidents of sales, marketing, or business
development — received an average of just under $150,000 in salary and
bonus during the same year. Compensation data for top management positions
during 1998 will be included in the upcoming edition of The Almanac.

The eCommerce Almanac is a semi-annual guide to high-end e-commerce sites
and the e-commerce initiatives of large companies. The upcoming March 1999
edition profiles more than 150 online merchants, providing Web site commentary
and information on company size, customers, revenue growth, technologies deployed, online
marketing partners, offline presence, management and principal investors.

The Almanac also provides statistical and benchmarking data on the profiled firms as a group. Profiled
firms include 1-800-FLOWERS, AMP, autoweb.com, Eddie Bauer, eBay, ONSALE,
Ingram Micro, Lands’ End, iPrint, Charles Schwab, CDnow and Preview Travel
and others.
