ShopNow.com Takes Stake in Galleon

E-commerce company ShopNow.com Inc. signed an agreement to acquire an
undisclosed equity stake in e-commerce company Galleon Distributed Technologies Inc., a
provider of order and transaction processing technologies and services.

ShopNow.com Chairman and CEO Dwayne Walker will join the board of directors
of Galleon.

As part of the agreement, Galleon will use ShopNow’s eBusiness Solutions
Group to provide payment-processing services to Galleon’s
business-to-business and business-to-consumer customers using ShopNow’s
CommerceTrust payment processing and fraud prevention platform.

The
combination of Galleon and ShopNow.com’s payment processing services is
expected to generate thousands of incremental transactions and additional
revenue to ShopNow.com, the company said.

The ShopNow eBusiness Solutions Group and Galleon will collaborate to offer
custom business-to-business and business-to-consumer solutions for other
online businesses and merchants.

Galleon is a Java-based order management solution capable of integrating
widely distributed processes as a cohesive system. Galleon features a fully
distributed, object-oriented architecture, a customer-centric database
environment, and extensive business transaction processing logic.

Galleon’s Commercial Transaction Framework (CTF) supports multi-threaded, distributed
transaction processing via TCP/IP, allowing Galleon to handle traffic spikes
characteristic of the Internet and high volume business-to-business and
business-to-consumer online orders.

ShopNow.com offers business-to-business and business-to-consumer e-commerce
services to businesses and operates an e-commerce network known as the ShopNow Network, offering access to more
than 40,000 businesses and over 6 million shoppers.
