San Jose, CA-based Software.net, an online software sales operation, named veteran financial manager Michael J. Praisner as vice president of finance and administration and CFO.

Praisner, who has had broad financial and operational experience with a range of prominent high-tech companies during periods of major expansion, will report to software.net’s recently appointed CEO, Mark Breier.

Praisner has held senior financial management positions with Applied
Materials, Apple Computer, and Hewlett-Packard. Most recently he was CFO at Silicon Storage Technology where he directed the company’s initial public offering.

The company said his appointment rounds out the senior management team
following the company’s spin-off from its sister corporation, CyberSource, in order to focus exclusively on the sale of digital products over the Internet.

Software.net offers more than 30,000 products to purchase with more than 3,400 titles available for immediate electronic fulfillment
Software.net also creates and manages co-branded Web stores for others.
