The MTVi Group, an Internet music content company, has inked a multi-year
agreement with Beatnik Inc., a provider of interactive audio technologies and content for the Web.

The agreement designates Beatnik as a featured technology solution for interactive audio for the MTVi network of Web sites, including MTV.com, VH1.com and SonicNet.com. The MTVi experience includes digital downloads, Internet radio and video, news and reviews, e-commerce, exclusive Web events and convergence initiatives.

Through Beatnik technologies, users can create their own background music as they surf MTVi’s sites, preview new songs by simply rolling the mouse over artist graphics, remix tracks to create their own versions of songs and e-mail their creations.

“Together, Beatnik and MTVi are introducing music fans to immersive, interactive experiences that enable them to interact with top artists, create and remix music and be published in a Web-based community,” said Lorraine Hariton, president and chief executive officer of Beatnik. “The Finish the Album Contest,’ where fans submitted their own version of a song for a cut on new band Lucy Pearl’s finished album, is an example of the unique experiences we offer MTV.com users.”

MTVi is a unit of MTV Networks, which is owned by Viacom Inc. (VIA). Liberty Digital (LMG) holds a minority stake in MTVi.
