Ticketmaster-CitySearch Unveils E-Commerce Initiative

Ticketmaster Online-CitySearch Friday announced CitySearch Commerce, a new service enabling small and medium-sized businesses to set up storefronts on the Web.

Merchants will be able to list products and services, take orders through their Web sites and securely process transactions. CitySearch will build the e-commerce sites and will provide marketing support to help merchants increase their sales.

CitySearch will also alllow businesses to cost effectively put their catalogs online which it said should help them improve conventional store sales as well.

“CitySearch is revolutionizing online city guides by adding transaction capability to consumers’ information gathering and planning processes. Once you have found something you want to do, we can increasingly assist you with a ticket, a reversation or merchandise,” said Charles Conn, Ticketmaster Online-CitySearch chief executive officer.
