Online travel site NITC Travelbase said it has purchased the
Lodging.com Web site. Financial terms were
not disclosed.

Lodging.com lists more than 35,000 accommodations in 2,500 U.S. cities,
including listings of off-the-beaten path inns, guest houses and bed and
breakfast lodgings. The database includes links to more than 2,000 hotels,
motels, resorts and B&B’s Web pages.

The system allows online reservations at about 25,000 properties, many of
which offer discounts available exclusively through Lodging.com.

“Since 1995 NITC Travelbase has been a resource for consumers looking for
smaller and off-the-beaten-path travel options. Lodging.com gives us an
opportunity to showcase our expertise in the hospitality sector with a brand
name URL Internet users can remember,” said Bill Marbach, vice president of
sales for NITC Travelbase.

In addition to Web-based promotions, Travelbase said it will advertise
Lodging.com
in U.S. print publications including USA Today.
