UPS Delivers For Internet Heavies

Much of UPS’s business is predicated on timing, and the
shipping giant is once again trying to deliver for the holiday season.

This month the company announced new shipping options available to sellers on eBay for international delivery, as well as announced a deal with Yahoo Small Business.

The new service provides U.S.-based eBay users the ability to expand their
businesses and ship packages internationally with the same service from UPS’s
domestic shipping.

Already integrated into eBay’s shipping center page, the service makes
shipping part of the selling process, providing sellers with information
needed to accomplish international shipping, according to Jordan Colletta,
vice president of customer technology marketing for UPS.

Many small- and mid-sized businesses use the eBay marketplace as a major
channel, particularly to reach buyers across the globe, Colletta told internetnews.com.

“Our relationship with eBay is an important dimension of this go-to-market
strategy,” Colletta said. “Expanding our international delivery service to
these customers is the next logical step.”

The new integrated tools allow eBay sellers to calculate costs, request a
UPS pick-up, track shipments, review transit times and print shipping labels
for international shipments, all at the point of transaction, according to
Colletta.

Both international and domestic UPS shipping labels are available and can be
paid for via PayPal, he said.

Gary Dillabough, vice president of strategic partnerships for eBay, said the
addition of UPS’s international shipping tools helps expand access to the
global marketplace for eBay sellers, affording them more cross-border
trading opportunities.

“The eBay community has asked for more international shipping capabilities
and we’re thrilled to team up with UPS to help simplify their international
trading,” Dillabough said in a statement.

UPS also announced a recent upgrade to the integration suite of online UPS
shipping tools into Yahoo Small Business, a leading
provider of services enabling small businesses to be successful online.

Yahoo merchants can now print shipping labels and automatically update
orders with tracking numbers directly within Yahoo, and both merchants and
customers can track packages instantly, reducing customer inquiries and
increasing customer confidence to improve their overall purchasing
experience.

“UPS is committed to making our services conveniently available at critical
points within our customers’ business process,” said Colletta.
