Phoenix-based auction portal operation USAWeb.com has purchased Auctionweb.com, an auctioneers’ Web site
hosting service. Financial terms were not disclosed.
USAWeb.com said the transaction allows it to offer visitors to its sites with
an array of traditional auctioneers currently housed on Auctionweb.com’s
servers.
Auctionweb.com members join an existing community of about 1,500 auctioneers
in the USAWeb Auction Community. Members include the state auctioneer
association’s Web
sites of Arizona, California, Florida, Washington and Michigan, plus the
Auction Marketing Institute’s official Web site.
New England Technology Information Service
(NETIS), a New Hampshire-based Internet service provider and consulting firm,
created the foundation for Auctionweb.com in September of 1995. NETIS built
its business around being a full-service Internet company for the auction
industry. The business evolved to more than 100 web sites hosted by NETIS,
including the first official National Auctioneers Association (NAA) Web site.
NETIS president Eric Poole sold the Auctionweb.com business–via an auction.
“USAWeb is pleased to welcome the members’ of Auctionweb.com to our growing
Internet community,” said John Jackley, founder and president of USAWeb.com
LLC. “We will offer our newest members access to all of the USAWeb.com
marketing tools in addition to the professional level of service they
received from NETIS.”
USAWeb.com was founded in February of 1995 with the launch of the Internet Auction List.
