WorldPay Acquires ClickPay Assets

By Ryan Naraine

Multi-currency transaction processing firm WorldPay on Monday announced the purchase of select assets of ClickPay, an e-commerce software start-up owned by New York-based Professo, Inc..

WorldPay, which has headquarters in Sterling, Va., said the transaction helps its continued global market expansion. Financial terms of the deal were not released.

Under the agreement, WorldPay said it would purchase all the commercial assets of ClickPay, including the ClickPay name, Web site, domain name, customer base and reseller network.

The company plans to transition ClickPay’s business operations and payment system into its e-commerce platform before the end of this year. ClickPay’s payment gateway helps integrate Web merchant accounts with real-time credit card processing and shopping cart systems.

The deal also includes a partnership which allows Professo to integrate WorldPay’s technology and Click and Build shopping cart into its flagship Hostflow product. Hostflow is Professo’s automation software platform for Hosting Service Providers (HSP) and Internet Data Centers (IDC).

Professo, which maintains headquarters in Manhattan and an office in Saint-Etienne, France, said the sale of ClickPay’s commercial assets was part of a plan to transition into a software company focused on the development and distribution of operations support systems (OSS) and business support systems (BSS) software tools.

Professo’s networks-based product helps with the creation, customization and billing of service packages.
