Automotive e-commerce site Autobytel.com signed an agreement with Yahoo! Inc. to offer thousands of used
vehicles for sale through Yahoo! Autos, a channel for researching,
buying, selling and finding information on maintaining new and used cars.
The agreement with Yahoo! Autos increases Autobytel.com’s stake in the $370
billion pre-owned vehicle market, which currently includes the Autobytel.com
Pre-Owned
CyberStore and Wholesale.autobytel.com, the company’s dealer-to-dealer
pre-owned vehicle auction service. Financial terms of the deal were not
disclosed.
“Yahoo! is clearly a leading resource for consumers on the Internet, and
Autobytel.com is pleased to bring a vast selection of high-quality, pre-owned
vehicles to Yahoo!’s millions of users,” said Anne Benvenuto, senior vice
president of marketing for Autobytel.com.
Through the agreement, Yahoo! Autos shoppers will have easy access to
Autobytel.com’s digital images of the vehicles as they appear. Each car or
truck will
pass a rigorous, 135-point certification program, designed to protect
consumers, and will be backed by a 3-month/3,000-mile limited warranty, a
72-hour money-back return policy and a nationwide travel repair program.
Autobytel.com is paid additional subscription fees from dealers participating
in the Certified Pre-Owned CyberStore program. In April of 1999,
Autobytel.com logged well more than 2 million searches for pre-owned
vehicles.
