Autobytel.com Offers New Vehicle Auctions

Oct 8, 1999

The growing popularity of online auctions has inspired Autobytel.com, Inc. to expand its auction services to allow individuals to buy and sell cars on its site.

Autobytel.com (ABTL), the
Friday launched an auction system that includes new and used vehicle listings by both dealers and consumers, as well as classic car listings. In addition, the Autobytel.com Auction
features a parts and accessories component that will be hosted by the FairMarket Auction Network.

The program is designed to allow dealers, consignors and private sellers and buyers to transact vehicle and part purchases in a live “bid” environment. It provides secure and efficient online used
vehicle purchasing with the Certified Pre-Owned CyberStore, which features
vehicles that have undergone a 135-point dealer certification process and
come with a 72-hour money back guarantee and a 3-month/3,000 mile warranty.

The company began offering wholesale vehicle auctions for car dealers, but the company wanted to expand to consumers as well, said Mark Lorimer, president and CEO of
autobytel.com inc.

“We pioneered the virtual auto auction earlier this year
when Autobytel.com introduced its Wholesale.autobytel.com…,” he said. “We know from experience that
auctioning cars is far more complex than auctioning collectibles and
celebrity memorabilia. We also understand that consumers both demand and
deserve security, choice and efficiency from their online automotive
auction experience.”

Autobytel.com’s Auto Auction is available to buying and selling consumers
and consignors, as well as to over 3,000 Autobytel.com Accredited Dealers.
