Just in time for the Christmas shopping season, Yahoo!
Tuesday plunged further into the e-tail pool with its rollout of Yahoo! Shopping
which features 2 million products from more than 2,700 online stores.

The portal’s shopping site offers consumers features such as the ability to
add items from several stores to a single shopping cart, express checkout
and the ability to ship items in a single order to multiple locations.

Products in Yahoo! Shopping are segmented into 14 categories, which include
clothing, books, electronics, music, movies
and software. Among the merchants that have signed on are FAO Schwarz,
Egghead.com, Inc., Tower Records and Dean & DeLuca.

As part of its e-commerce initiative, Yahoo! said it will expand its
relationship with Visa and rollout a comprehensive marketing program for
the holidays. Yahoo! Shopping will be co-branded with Visa, whose card will
be the preferred payment method.

In addition, Visa will promote Yahoo! and e-commerce in broadcast and print
advertisements nationwide. Currently Yahoo! is featured in Visa’s national
television spots with online toy merchant eToys.

“Yahoo! has clearly established itself as a trusted brand and a leader in
online shopping. For millions of people, Yahoo! is the
single source used to find, compare and buy products across the Web,” said
Jeff Mallett, chief operating officer, Yahoo! Inc.

“Through Yahoo! Shopping, we now offer our users a complete shopping
experience, enabling them to easily access and
purchase millions of products. Yahoo! remains committed to evolving our
services to best meet our users’ needs and to sending qualified consumers
directly to merchants within Yahoo,” Mallett said.
