Can Twitter maintain the rapid growth it’s achieved the past few years? The company is regularly dinged by analysts for not having a revenue strategy, but the well-funded micro-blogging service has never made profits a near-term objective.
As Instant Messaging Planet reports, Ev Williams, Biz Stone and other Twitter executives, held court at the company’s recent Chirp developers conference, answering questions on its mobile strategy and its new advertising service.

“I’m excited by a whole new crop of applications that we never would have thought of that blow our mind. We embrace that idea,” said Twitter’s co-founder and creative director, Biz Stone, during a Q&A session with the developer audience late Wednesday. “If we ever think we’ve created everything, we’re probably screwed.”
That said, Twitter has new services in the pipeline. CEO and co-founder Ev Williams confirmed the company is planning a client app for Android devices. “Yes, we are going to be there — we have an app in the works,” he said.
Twitter recently purchased Tweetie, a Twitter client app for iPhone, and Williams made a point during Chirp of emphasizing the need to do a better job of making Twitter accessible on mobile.
