Acer Chooses Gadzoox in Multimillion Dollar OEM Deal

Gadzoox Networks announced yesterday that they have entered into a worldwide OEM relationship with Acer Inc., one of the world’s top ten PC marketing and services providers. Under the terms of the agreement, Gadzoox Networks will provide to Acer the Capellix and Slingshot Fibre Channel switch product lines to be sold through Acer as part of their soon-to-be announced storage offerings.

“The storage market in Asia, specifically China and India, are growing at an incredible pace and Acer is partnering with companies that will enable us to build and provide leading storage solutions to these markets,” said Jim Wong, President of Acer IT Product Business Group. “After an extensive review process of the SAN switch providers only one met our needs. We chose Gadzoox Networks for their switch products over other switch providers because of their technology, Fibre Channel design expertise, value for the entry-level market and scalability for the enterprise market. To be successful in our target markets, especially China and India, we need to provide leading technology but at a value that encourages adoption and installation.”

“We have continually delivered leading edge products to the market which are now fast becoming the foundation of entry-level storage networking,” said Steve Dalton, President and CEO, Gadzoox Networks. “To have Acer recognize Gadzoox Networks technology and value leading products is a clear statement of our capabilities. Acer is a huge company that has a worldwide infrastructure ready to develop and own the emerging entry-level storage market and Gadzoox Networks products are a perfect fit for their plans.”

The Capellix and Slingshot Fibre Channel switches will be co-branded and sold as part of Acer’s storage offerings. Additionally, Gadzoox Networks will participate in the joint marketing and selling of the Acer storage offerings worldwide.
