BMC Software Inc. today announced a storage solution designed to simplify the management of EMC Corporation’s CLARiiON(R) FC4500 and FC4700 information storage arrays. The new solution, PATROL(R) for CLARiiON(R), is a Knowledge Module(TM) that the company claims offers a clearer picture of the user’s storage infrastructure by providing a centralized view of information storage resources. According to the company, Knowledge Modules are the foundation of its Application-Centric Storage Management(TM) (ACSM) approach.

BMC Software’s PATROL for CLARiiON is another valuable solution that customers can utilize to increase application availability and optimize the performance of their storage infrastructure.”

Specifically, BMC Software says PATROL for CLARiiON allows users to analyze the configurations of EMC CLARiiON FC4500 and FC4700 storage arrays, compare their performance against user expectations, and locate areas that may need reconfiguring. In addition, PATROL for CLARiiON collects essential, device-specific data to supply that data to each successive layer of the ACSM technology stack, BMC Software’s unique storage management solution.
