Brocade Expands Into China Market

Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. today announced today it has expanded its worldwide operations into the China market with the opening of its Beijing office.

Brocade said it will focus on meeting the increasingly complex storage demands driven by an expanding Chinese economy, facilitating technology skill transfer to the local market, and expanding support services to Brocade partners and their customers in the China market.

According to the company, several factors in China are driving the demand for storage networks: increasing Internet usage; unique telecommunications requirements and market opportunities; and the increasingly competitive environment for data-intensive businesses such as government, telecommunications, finance, utilities, and manufacturing.

“For markets such as China, where IT infrastructure is currently being built out, and often for the first time, companies and government agencies have the opportunity to base their storage infrastructure on a networking model, eliminating the scalability and management limitations of a traditional direct-attached storage model. A reliable, scalable, secure, and manageable platform for networking storage is a strategic part of enterprise IT infrastructure, and Brocade is committed to expanding the SAN expertise and resources for our regional partners and their customers to meet the unique needs of Chinese businesses and agencies,” said Greg Reyes, Brocade Chairman and CEO.

Brocade believes that the China market could be one of the fastest growing markets for SANs in the next few years, and is expanding its China presence to support and promote this growth.

“Brocade products have been sold in Greater China for several years through our strong OEM and channel partners. Having foreseen the tremendous market opportunities in China, we are now expanding our China presence to further support our partners and their customers,” added Benjamin Wong, managing director of North Asia for Brocade. “By expanding our operations in the China, Brocade will be able to locally assist in the implementation of integrated SAN solutions which will help the entire market grow by providing companies with an intelligent, manageable, scalable, and secure networking foundation for their storage environments.”
