Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today announced the latest release of BrightStor Mobile Backup, the company’s remote/mobile data availability solution for laptop computers.

According to CA, BrightStor Mobile Backup 3.5 enables mobile workers to continue using their applications while backup takes place, while a new GUI further enhances personal productivity by making it easier to flag and prioritize files for automatic backup.

CA said BrightStor Mobile Backup is fully optimized for the low-bandwidth, intermittent wired or wireless connections, identifying critical files and only transmiting byte-level, incremental file changes, conserving bandwidth. In the event that a user’s laptop is lost, stolen or damaged, BrightStor Mobile Backup can fully restore all critical data files onto a new laptop. It can also restore the user’s desktop icons, Internet favorites and other system attributes.

BrightStor Mobile Backup is an integral component of CA’s BrightStor, which it said delivers a family of integrated, high-performance, mobile-to-mainframe storage solutions for data availability and enterprise storage resource management.

BrightStor Mobile Backup 3.5 is available through CA’s global sales channels, including authorized channel partners. Supported platforms include Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows 98 and Windows 95.
