Chaparral, Vixel Products Certified As Interoperable

Feb 12, 2002

Vixel Corporation , a provider of storage area networking (SAN) solutions, and Chaparral Network Storage, Inc., a provider of storage infrastructure products, have announced the certification of Vixel’s 9000 series 2-Gigabit/second (2Gb/s) Fibre Channel switches with Chaparral’s JFS224 & JFS226 RAID controllers along with the VFS113 & VFS226 Fibre Channel to SCSI Routers.

“With the full range of both 1 and 2 Gb/s products from Vixel and Chaparral now certified, we are enabling customers to leverage their current 1 Gb/s SAN environment while making the transition to 2 Gb/s technologies,” said Claude Lorenson, director of product marketing for Vixel. “We’re very pleased that Chaparral’s RAID products are certified with Vixel’s switches and SAN management software and we look forward to continuing to bring both companies’ customers truly valuable technology offerings.”

In addition, Vixel also announced support for Chaparral’s products with its SAN InSite Professional SAN management software. “We believe this partnership clearly underscores the fact that the various elements of 2Gb/s SAN infrastructures are now in full play, which will enable end-users to attain new levels of performance, flexibility and ease of implementation,” said Cooper Cowart, vice president of marketing for Chaparral. “In addition, with support for Chaparral’s products built into Vixel’s SAN InSite Professional, centralized management of 2Gb/s SANs will be even easier to achieve.”
