Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today announced version 10 of CA-Datacom, the database management system for z/OS and OS/390 platforms. According to the company, the new version maximizes the scalability and flexible deployment of eBusiness applications by enabling data-sharing throughout the Parallel Sysplex environment.
Applications can now access database information anywhere on any CA-Datacom image within the Sysplex without any changes to the application code. This expands the Sysplex exploitation in earlier releases by providing fault-tolerance and cross-platform workload balancing.
To support rapidly escalating eBusiness workloads with thousands of concurrent requests for data, CA-Datacom version 10 provides enhanced buffer and task management facilities that enable applications to exploit the vast amount of virtual storage provided in z/OS and OS/390 environments while reducing system utilization.
System availability enhancements in CA-Datacom version 10 support eBusiness workloads by enabling users to adjust critical system resources “on the fly” to address significant variations in system workloads without interrupting service. Enhanced database backup and restore capabilities, expedited recovery, and streamlined message processing improve ease-of-use and system management.
