EMC Corporation and Genuity Inc. today announced an alliance to expand product integration efforts, conduct joint product development, and collaborate to market and sell managed storage solutions on Black Rocket.
According to the companies, Genuity will now offer EMC’s Symmetrix(R) Enterprise Storage systems and software as part of its Black Rocket eBusiness Network Platform, and the two companies will work together to market the combined infrastructure through the EMC xSPerience Provider Program(TM). As part of the alliance, dedicated EMC technical personnel, based in Genuity data centers, will work closely with the Genuity team to ensure tight integration between EMC systems and software and Genuity’s Black Rocket. In addition, the two companies will participate in joint engineering and technology development activities related to managed storage services.
“The trend toward Information Plants, such as those offered by Genuity, is a major growth driver for EMC. Through this alliance, Genuity is offering customers access to a large-scale, protected and easily managed environment,” said Joe Tucci, EMC’s president and CEO. “Both EMC and Genuity are offering eBusiness customers a service that gives them significant time-to-market advantage and a commitment to ongoing integration and development efforts to meet their future needs.”
The companies say that the alliance is an expansion of a long-standing relationship between the two companies. As one of EMC’s largest CLARiiON(R) storage consumers, with hundreds of terabytes of storage under management, Genuity has deployed an EMC information infrastructure for both internal and customer needs. The new offering of Symmetrix systems and software on Black Rocket, combined with EMC’s CLARiiON systems and software, expands Genuity’s range of storage solution offerings.
