Exabyte Corporation, a network backup systems company, today announced the availability of its EZ17-A autoloader with AIT-2, which it says brings unattended backup to entry-level storage applications.
“By reducing the amount of manual intervention required in standard, single-drive backup applications, the EZ17-A provides the highest capacity, most affordable entry-level AIT(TM) backup solution,” said Peri Grover, director of product marketing for libraries at Exabyte. “It allows network administrators and IT professionals to dedicate costly resources to more productive activities, while the EZ17-A completes daily, weekly and monthly backups reliably and without expensive and fallible human intervention.”
According to the company, the EZ17-A’s seven-cartridge capacity allows for a full week of unattended backup. It accommodates one AIT-2 tape drive and seven cartridges, and has a native capacity of 350 GB (910 compressed*) and native data throughput of 21.6 GB/hour (56 GB/hour compressed*). It has a list price of $6899. General availability is scheduled for the end of this month.
