Finisar Supports Intel InfiniBand Test Developer’s Kit

Aug 30, 2001

Finisar Corporation , a gigabit fiber optic solutions provider for high-speed data and telecommunication networks, this week announced an agreement to support Intel Corporation’s InfiniBand Test Developer’s Kit (TDK).

Finisar protocol analyzers will be coupled with Intel’s Test Development Kit. The TDK runs turn-key suites and supports development and debug of customized tests. Finisar said it provides graphic user interfaces and text reports to allow for rapid access to the results. In addition, Finisar said it provides test configurations which include: capture filters, triggering conditions and viewer set ups, to aid in quickly collecting the results.

“This protocol specific combination of scripts, traffic source, protocol analyzer, and test development environment fill a major need in the rapidly developing InfiniBand technology arena,” said Bob Otis, Vice President of Engineering at Finisar. “Developer’s want to deliver sophisticated products and consumers want assurance they are interoperable and reliable. This union provides everyone access to a platform for independent product assessment,” Otis added.

“InfiniBand architecture is a critical enabling technology for Internet Data Centers,” said Jim Pappas, Director of Initiative Marketing for Intel’s Enterprise Platform Group. “Finisar’s use of the Intel TDK with their protocol analyzer platform should help speed industry development of InfiniBand products by offering powerful tools for InfiniBand compliance testing.”
