HiNet Selects FalconStor’s For SSP Initiative

HiNet today announced a partnership with FalconStor(TM) Software to use FalconStor’s IPStor(TM) software as the storage networking engine for its HiStorage Storage Service Provider (SSP) offering.

According to HiNet, it has created an international network of high bandwidth, direct-links to the United States, Hong Kong, France, Korea, Japan and the Pacific Rim. HiNet says it is taking advantage of its global IP infrastructure to provision managed storage to businesses by implementing FalconStor’s IPStor. IPStor delivers both block and file level sharing to application servers and workgroup users on the IP network.

Sarah Wu, Business Operations Manager at HiNet, said, “Most SSP strategies are primarily based on Fibre Channel connectivity. This requires dedicated fibre links, an ‘all or nothing’ type of offering. HiNet believes that there is a lot of business opportunity between zero and 100MB/s. By incorporating IPStor software, we can fill this gap very nicely with its end-to-end storage connectivity. IPStor allows us to deliver storage rapidly, via IP, with performance scalability from 1 MB/s all the way up to 115MB/s. This is a real benefit to our users.”
