FalconStor Software, Inc. and Hitachi Engineering Co., Ltd. (HEC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., have formed a partnership to deliver business continuity solutions to the Japanese market.
HEC plans to offer storage management systems with FalcomStor’s IPStor data management software embedded to provide network-based storage services such as on-line snapshots, remote disaster recovery, synchronous/asynchronous mirroring, and backup/restore to its customers.

In related news, FalconStor announced the appointment of Mr. Akihiko Motai as country manager of FalconStor Japan.
The company said Motai will be responsible for all aspects of FalconStor operations in Japan, including sales, marketing, professional services and new business development.
