INRANGE Announces Next Gen Optical Networking for Storage

INRANGE Technologies today announced the general availability of the IN-VSN(TM) Spectrum 1000, 2000, and 3000 family of optical networking platforms for leveraging fiber optic bandwidth to extend storage networks across campus, enterprise, and metropolitan area networks.

“Our total IN-VSN strategy to build virtual storage networks is radically different than `point technology’ approaches,” said Charles Foley, EVP and CTO of INRANGE. “Rather than piecing together marketing alliances, we’ve invested in an architecture to bring true optical storage networking solutions for the enterprise in a seamless manner, leveraging multiple technologies and consulting competencies to deliver real ROI.”

“The ability to leverage fiber’s bandwidth and extend ESCON, Fibre Channel, and FICON storage applications economically is a strategic advantage that INRANGE has been delivering to our customers for over seven years,” stated Sherrie Woodring, INRANGE Vice President and General Manager. “The systems, applications, and networking expertise we have attained during this period is available directly to end users through INRANGE’s Global Consulting professionals, who tailor connectivity solutions that meet cost, performance, and availability criteria for extending storage infrastructures across enterprise and metro areas.”

The new Spectrum platforms are the result of INRANGE’s partnership with ADVA Optical Networking and will be co-branded with ADVA. INRANGE has been selling optical solutions based on ADVA technology since 1995, and is contracted to provide field service and support for ADVA products deployed in North America by all channels through its direct sales and services organization, which has 625 field-based professionals worldwide.
