LSI Logic Gains Ultra320 SCSI Design Wins

LSI Logic Corporation today announced strategic OEM customer design wins for performance-driven workstation and server applications. New business deals with four OEM providers, including Dell, will center on LSI Logic’s single and dual channel, Fusion-MPT(TM)-based controllers, the LSI53C1020 and LSI53C1030.

“LSI Logic’s forward-looking architectures, recent storage technology acquisitions, and investments in performance engineering and quality manufacturing have positioned us to fully capitalize on the coming recovery of the storage industry,” said Bill Wuertz, general manager/vice president for LSI Logic’s Storage Standard Products Division. “The commitments that we have achieved from Dell for its line of PowerEdge(TM) servers, and our other strategic customers solidify our Ultra320 SCSI leadership and reflect our first-to-market position and proven product performance.”

“Dell is committed to bringing its customers the highest performance server products. LSI Logic’s Ultra320 technology and Fusion-MPT architecture provide us with the value-added support we demand,” said Damian Cook, director of PowerVault(TM) Storage Platforms for Dell’s Enterprise Systems Group. “LSI Logic’s MegaRAID(R) family of Ultra320 SCSI RAID solutions will further enhance Dell’s ability to compete at all levels.”

“We believe these design wins are a direct result of LSI Logic’s forward-looking investments in R&D for our I/O architecture and resultant products, and our strategic acquisitions program,” said Bryon Look, LSI Logic executive vice president and chief financial officer. “Our strategic customers will be using LSI Logic storage solutions which are supported by engineers from our Symbios, Inc., and IntraServer acquisitions, and our purchase of AMI’s MegaRAID product line earlier this year.”
