Maxtor, Adaptec Partner On Ultra320 SCSI Solutions

Maxtor(R) Corporation this week announced it is working with Adaptec to deliver full interoperability between Maxtor’s Atlas(TM) 10K III SCSI hard disk drives and Adaptec’s Ultra320 SCSI and RAID controllers.


According to Maxtor, the Atlas 10K III Ultra320 is a 10,000 RPM SCSI drive offering full implementation of the mandatory and optional Ultra320 SCSI interface features as defined in T10/SPI-4 rev 7 draft standard, including adaptive active filtration (AAF). it is offered in 18 GB, 36 GB, and 73 GB capacities. The disk drive has an average seek time of 4.5 ms and 18 GB/platter density.

Maxtor’s Atlas 10K III Ultra320 is currently under evaluation and qualification units are slated to be available starting in November 2001. Volume shipments of Atlas 10K III U320 are set to begin early next year.
