McDATA Launches New Storage Management Product

McDATA Corporation today announced the availability of its new SANavigator with Enterprise Fabric Connectivity Manager (EFCM) software product.

McDATA said SANavigator with EFCM optimizes customers’ storage network resources through capacity planning and asset management, and simplifies open storage network management with a single point of control for the entire fabric. It provides a platform for integration with third party storage network management software, and complements the McDATA’s current software offerings, which are part of its Enterprise Solutions Architecture(TM) (ESA).

“McDATA has fully leveraged its recent acquisition of SANavigator by delivering a powerful and comprehensive storage network management solution,” said Bill North, IDC’s Director of Research for storage software. “Customers will see significant benefits from the integration of technology from two of the industry’s leading companies. This software product answers customers’ current requirements, while providing a solid platform for addressing future needs.”

“By making this software product available today, McDATA strengthens its leadership in the storage network management market,” said Jack McDonnell, CEO and Chairman of McDATA. “Like all of McDATA’s products, we developed this (software bundle) with the customers’ needs in mind. This product continues McDATA’s progression toward total Fabric Virtualization(TM), which is our network service that enables greater storage utility by simplifying the complexity of the storage network.”

According to the company, SANavigator with EFCM complements and extends the benefits afforded by third party products from companies such as EMC, Hewlett Packard Company, IBM and others, as McDATA focuses its efforts on storage management at the network level, while other companies target the management of other aspects of storage.
