Network Appliance, Inc. today announced SnapVault, a data protection software solution for NetApp filers that the company said simplifies backup management and speeds data recovery.
The company said combining SnapVault software and the NearStore R100 storage appliance allows enterprises to back up data online with minimal impact on filer performance and capacity. SnapVault software enables customers to copy and store Snapshot files from multiple local and remote filers to the NearStore R100. Network Appliance said this automated process eliminates the need for scarce backup time windows, ensures immediate access to data for fast recovery, and significantly reduces management complexity, while improving solution performance.
Network Appliance announced a number of partnerships today that relate directly to this new solution. Companies include Spectra Logic, Advanced Digital Information Corporation, Computer Associates, Legato Systems, VERITAS Software and IXOS Software.
