Network Storage Solutions Inks Agreement with Hitachi Data Systems

Jun 27, 2001

Network Storage Solutions (NSS), a provider of network attached storage (NAS) systems, today announced an agreement with Hitachi Data Systems to resell Hitachi’s Freedom Storage(TM) series of products, including Freedom Storage Thunder 9200(TM) and Freedom Storage Lightning 9900(TM), as part of NSS’ NAS Thunderbolt product line.

According to NSS, the products allow customers to allocate storage between either the NAS or SAN environment, and permit file-sharing capabilities through a standard Ethernet network for customers operating in Windows(R) NT/2000 or UNIX environments. NSS’ direct sales force and selling partners will continue to offer NSS Thunderbolt products into the midrange market.

With today’s announcement, NSS says becomes the only Hitachi Data Systems partner that manufactures and sells its own NAS product line. Earlier this year, NSS formed a new relationship with Hitachi Data Systems through which Hitachi provides global service and support to NSS customers. Today’s deal further solidifies the relationship between NSS and Hitachi Data Systems.
