SCSI Trade Association Announces 2002 Board

The SCSI Trade Association (STA), established in 1995, is a member-run industry consortium established to support and promote SCSI technology, announced their newly elected Board of Directors for 2002 today. Re-elected to the presidency after a one-year hiatus was Harry Mason of LSI Logic, president from 1995 through 2000. Three new board members include Daniel Colegrove of IBM, Martin Czekalski of Maxtor and Shawn Hook of Seagate.

According to STA, the Board of Directors voted in December to assume responsibility for guiding the Serial Attached SCSI initiative and will be promoting this technology to the industry. The STA organization said it will support standardization of the new SCSI technology by the INCITS T10 committee following the official proposal to T10 in May. The organization said its role is to ensure that the resulting Serial Attached SCSI standard meets the needs of the storage I/O industry when completed in 2003.

“2002 promises to be a watershed year for STA,” said Harry Mason, president of the SCSI Trade Association. “Board enthusiasm for Serial Attached SCSI along with the on-going interest in Parallel SCSI is very high. Both Serial Attached and Parallel SCSI will be defined, developed and promoted to benefit the storage industry. We look forward to the unfolding events of this year and next as Serial Attached SCSI emerges.”
