Seagate and QLogic to Demonstrate 2 Gigabit Fibre Channel

Jun 11, 2001

Seagate and QLogic Corporation are showcasing a 2 gigabit-per-second Fibre Channel storage solution this year at the Network Storage conference and tradeshow. With a focus highlighting 2 Gb/s Fibre Channel (FC) performance and interoperability, the demonstration will feature Seagate’s Cheetah X15-36LP Fibre Channel drives along with QLogic’s SANbox2(TM) 16 port Fibre Channel switch and SANblade(TM) 2300 Series host bus adapters. The demonstration will be conducted at Seagate’s booth 6A from June 11-14.

In addition to multiple 2 Gb/s Fibre Channel Cheetah drives in a JBOD array, Seagate will also be running a JBOD of 1 Gb/s Fibre Channel Cheetah drives to demonstrate complete backward compatibility. QLogic SANbox2 switches, SANblade 2300 Series HBAs and Seagate Cheetah drives are both 1 Gb- and 2 Gb-ready, and will fully interoperate at both speeds and offer significant performance advantages in both 1 Gb and 2 Gb SAN environments.
