Snap Appliances(TM) today unveiled the 160GB Snap Server(R) 2200, a two-drive desktop NAS appliance that the company said is optimized for network file serving and backup.
According to Snap Appliances, the Snap Server 2200 provides cross-platform file sharing in mixed Windows, NetWare, UNIX Linux, and Macintosh environments. The disks are configured to provide RAID 1 (mirroring) data protection or RAID 0 (striping, no parity). The dual drives can also be viewed as two separate disks with separate volumes using JBOD.
The Snap Server 2200 is available immediately at an MSRP of $1,499.
