StorageTek(R) and Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. today announced the expansion of their global relationship with the addition of the Brocade SilkWorm(R) 6400 64-port integrated fabric to StorageTek StorageNet(R) Storage Area Network (SAN) offerings.

The SilkWorm 6400, which was made generally available by Brocade in March 2001, is a pre-configured, integrated SAN fabric, designed to simplify the deployment and management of SANs while offering users the flexibility to deploy large enterprise SANs in a modular “pay-as-you-grow” fashion.

Fully networkable and compatible with the entire Brocade SilkWorm product family, the SilkWorm 6400 enables StorageTek customers to deploy manageable SANs that span hundreds and thousands of interconnected storage and server devices.

“The Brocade SilkWorm 6400 expands StorageTek SAN solutions, providing our customers with a cost-effective storage networking solution scaleable to meet ever increasing data storage requirements and support enterprise-class SANs,” said Mick Dungworth, vice president of marketing and sales support, storage networking business unit of StorageTek. “Brocade and StorageTek share a common vision for heterogeneous SANs in multi-protocol environments that enable our mutual customers to leverage existing storage investments and keep pace with data storage growth.”
