StorageTek Selects Emulex Fibre Channel HBA

Mar 5, 2002

Storage Technology Corp.(StorageTek) has selected Emulex Corporation’s LightPulse LP9002L Fibre Channel host bus adapter (HBA) to provide FICON connectivity in its enterprise storage disk array system.

“Our storage solutions are designed to protect customers’ mission-critical information while achieving the highest levels of performance and we selected the Emulex 2Gb/s LP9002L host bus adapter to ensure maximum scalability, reliability and robustness,” said Tim Steadman, StorageTek director of corporate alliances.

According to Emulex, the Emulex LP9002L is a low profile HBA which supports 64 bit, 66MHz PCI transfers and operates at up to 2Gb/s Fibre Channel data rates. The 2Gb/s LP9002L offers auto speed negotiation, a function that enables the host bus adapter to automatically sense the network’s maximum speed and adapt accordingly, while maintaining full backwards compatibility with 1Gb/s Fibre Channel installations. Additionally, the LP9002L is software compatible with Emulex’s entire family of LightPulse host bus adapters, including the market-leading LP8000.
