Storage Technology Corp. (Storagetek(R)) has completed initial integration and testing activities between its open system tape libraries and Mcdata Corporation’s
Integrated with Mcdata’s directors and switches, Storagetek said its open system tape libraries can be easily deployed in any Storage Area Network (SAN) environment and offer customers connectivity in fibre fabric networks, extending the scalability and performance benefits of a switched fabric fibre channel SAN to their tape area network.
“With this alliance StorageTek and Mcdatahave taken the first step in combining their high availability synergies to develop a solution for end users that is available and serviceable by both companies. This is a huge win for our customers as it cuts down on the time for implementation,” said Richard Search, Vice President of Marketing at Mcdata. “Our customers will also benefit from considerable cost savings and performance improvements gained by seamlessly connecting their Mcdata fibre channel SANs to their StorageTek tape libraries.”
According to the companies, the configurations between Mcdata full family of core-to-edge enterprise SAN products and Storagetek’s T9840A and T9840B in its L-Series tape library series have been fully tested and qualified. Tests were jointly undertaken in Storagetek’s Gold Lab and Mcdata’s Systems Integration Lab.
