StorageTek(R) (Storage Technology Corp.) and Tech Data Corporation today announced a Value Added Distributor Agreement to permit Tech Data to distribute StorageTek’s L20, L40 and L80 series of tape libraries through its network of Value Added Resellers (VARs) in the United States.

StorageTek said the distributor agreement expands its market focus, allowing small- and mid-sized customers using the NT operating system greater access to StorageTek L20, L40 and L80 tape libraries.

“StorageTek is a market leader in tape and tape automation. Tech Data is pleased to bring StorageTek’s tape automation technology to its value added resellers,” said Roy Appelbaum, vice president and general manager of networking and high-end storage technologies. “The L20, L40 and L80 tape libraries from StorageTek enable our VARs to offer their small- to mid-range customers ease of management and excellent return on investment.”

“Tech Data will provide StorageTek access to an NT-focused VAR base that is incremental to our existing indirect reseller-partner base. They offer us a tremendously successful channel through which we can tap into the small- and medium-sized business market,” said George Karabatsos, StorageTek vice president, Sales, U.S. VAD/VAR Channel.
