Quantum Corporation’s DLTtape(TM) Group today announced that Dell, Compaq and IBM are now shipping storage backup products using Quantum’s Super DLTtape(TM) technology.

The Dell PowerVault(TM) 110T SDLT Tape Drive includes the first of Quantum’s Super DLTtape systems. Other systems OEMs shipping Super DLTtape products include Compaq and IBM. Tandberg Data is a second source supplier of Super DLTtape technology. In addition, library manufacturers ADIC, ATL, Overland Data, and StorageTek are also shipping tape libraries with Super DLTtape drives.

With 110GB of native storage capacity and a native transfer rate of 11MB/sec, Super DLTtape drives have nearly three times the capacity and double the transfer rate of Quantum’s previous highest performing DLTtape units.
