Trebia Networks to Demonstrate IP Storage Applications

Trebia Networks s partnering with other storage companies to demonstrate real storage applications running over an IP-based SAN at this week’s Storage Networking World show in Palm Desert, California. Trebia is part of a storage backup and restore application that includes IP-based servers (initiators) connected to various storage systems (targets).

“Trebia is happy to be teaming up with leading product suppliers to show a real example of the value of IP storage solutions,” said Brendon Howe, Vice President of Marketing, Trebia Networks. “The success of this demonstration of real-world application environments, backed by ongoing interoperability events, plugfests and standards conformance guidelines, helps end users gain confidence that solutions in this emerging segment are ready for production deployment.”

The company said this week’s backup and restore application involves multiple iSCSI HBA (initiators) products/vendors communicating to multiple storage arrays and tape drives connected to the SAN via iSCSI, SCSI and Fibre Channel. The IP storage portion of the demo is based on iSCSI version 0.9. Trebia is participating in the demonstration with its Software Development Kit (SNP-SDK), a system level version of its SNP product, to connect the iSCSI initiators to a Fibre Channel attached JBOD. Trebia’s SNP-SDK allows developers to connect to live Fibre Channel and/or iSCSI/FCIP networks and model the functionality of an actual system prior to the completion of a hardware design based on its SNP. In fact, Trebia Networks said it has used the SNP-SDK to successfully participate in all three iSCSI plugfests and various Fibre Channel interoperability events.
