Unison Introduces RAID I/O Fibre III

Unison Information Systems, Ltd. announces the release of their newest high performance Fibre Channel RAID solution, the Raid I/O Fibre III.

The RAID I/O Fibre III is based on the same technology as Unison’s RAID I/O Fibre Fault Tolerant RAID Subsystem. The entry point supports single or dual FC-AL host loops with up to twelve disk drives. For expansion of drive capacity, up to fourteen Fibre III JBODs may be attached to the base, when fully configured this allows up to 180 disk drives on the two redundant FC-AL RAID loops from the Fibre III Subsystem, for a maximum total capacity of over 32 Terabytes. All components including power supplies and fans are redundant and hot swappable, ensuring access to data in the event of a failure.

The enclosure, designed for maximum flexibility, allows modification of the size of the system and the interface features to meet specific customer needs. Molded plastic inserts can be replaced or color coded to provide an identity unique to the customer. The construction method is based on aluminum extrusions, providing extraordinary rigidity and conductive cooling.

The high level of drive packaging density — 12 1″ or 1.625″ high disks in 7″ (4U) rack space-offer a cost effective, modular and flexible design which allows customization. The RAID I/O Fibre III features Hot Pluggable disk drives, PSUs, fans, IO modules, RAID modules & ops panel. It also offers Optional Distributed Array Manager Configurator for Solaris, Linux, Irix and NT/2000 operating systems, and supports SAN Mapping to control access of servers to LUNs in the array.

All RAID I/O Fibre III Systems are available from stock
