VA Linux Ships New 2U Servers

VA Linux Systems, Inc. today announced its next generation of high-performance 2U servers in the VA Linux 2200 series. VA :Linux says the three new servers offer advanced remote management capabilities using VACM(TM), VA’s Open Source cluster management software, and augment VA’s industry-leading line of ultradense 1U and 2U rack-optimized Linux servers.


The dual processor (dual GHz Intel(R) Pentium(R) III processors) VA Linux 2200 series has a 133MHz front side bus and two 64-bit/66MHz PCI expansion slots. It features Ultra160 RAID RAID support, up to 4GB of memory and, and can be ordered with a DC power supply for telco-style installations. With up to five hot-swappable 1.6″ drives supporting a total of 365GB of internal storage, the VA Linux 2251 server features what VA Linux claims is the industry’s highest internal storage capacity in a 2U. It can also be expanded to almost 2TB of storage.
