VERITAS Software Corporation today announced that IP Storage switches from Nishan Systems, provider of standard iSCSI, iFCP, and iSNS IP Storage switches, have been certified as fully interoperable with the VERITAS Backup Exec(TM) for
Windows NT(R) and Windows 2000 8.6 family of backup and restore solutions.

According to the companies, the Nishan switches allowed transparent operation of VERITAS Backup Exec Storage Area Network (SAN)-aware software applications.

The
VERITAS SAN certification environment included servers with Emulex
Corporation’s LP9000 Fibre Channel (FC) Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) connected
to a Nishan IPS 3000 Series switch. The Nishan switch in turn was
connected to a Cisco Catalyst switch in a campus area environment with a
dedicated Gigabit Ethernet link. At the other end of the Gigabit Ethernet
link, a Cisco Catalyst switch was plugged into another Nishan IPS 3000
switch with connections to the popular StorageTek L40 tape library as well
as the IBM LTO 3583 Scalable Tape Library.
