Vixel, LSI Logic Partner on Fiber Channel Bundle

Dec 14, 2001

Storage-area networking (SAN) product provider Vixel Corp. and LSI Logic Corp. , which provides storage products, said they have completed certification of a new Fibre Channel 2Gb/s infrastructure bundle.

The bundle includes the Vixel 9000 Series 2 Gigabit per second (Gb/s) Fabric Switches and LSI Logic’s 2Gb/s LSI44929O Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter (HBA).

This partnership will enable customers to transition their SAN environments by adding new 2Gb/s technology to their existing SAN infrastructure or replacing current 1Gb/s technology with a 2Gb/s infrastructure bundle. After extensive testing by both companies’ labs, Vixel and LSI Logic can deliver an interoperable and flexible, 2Gb/s SAN infrastructure bundle that can be easily implemented and provides optimal performance for rapid return on investment (ROI).

In addition to saving time and money via ease of implementation, interoperability and improved performance, this partnership will also reduce costs by offering customers an LSI 449290 2Gb/s HBA, a $2,500.00 value, for free when ordering the certified 2Gb/s infrastructure bundle (consisting of a Vixel 9000 Series switch and LSI 449290 HBA), officials from both companies said.
