Corio Inc. and Sun Microsystems Inc.
today announced plans to further strengthen their strategic partnership by enhancing the existing CorioNet program which enables participating independent software vendors (ISVs) to offer their products through Corio’s application service provider (ASP) model.
The alliance between Corio and Sun aims to help ISVs migrate to Corio’s Tier 1 solution. Through the CorioNet program, ISVs can use Corio’s application and infrastructure management potential to offer customers an ASP solution.
Corio and Sun are jointly marketing and promoting the CorioNet program, while Sun also provides tailored consulting as well as service and support for their products to help meet the high availability standards it says is required by ASPs.
Corio is also a member of the SunTone Certification and Branding Program, Sun’s collaborative industry effort to define best practices in audit solution provider infrastructure, operational practices, hardware, software, and overall service delivery.
According to Masood Jabbar, executive vice president of Sun’s Global Sales Organization, Corio is committed to meeting industry-defined, standards for quality delivery of Web-enabled services defined by the industry.
“Since the launch of CorioNet, Corio has received high demand from software companies. Our existing alliance with Sun will further CorioNet’s success by facilitating the migration to our world-class ASP model,” says George Kadifa, president and CEO of Corio.
Corio manages a number of partnerships across all layers of the IT infrastructure. These technology partners together with Corio’s IT professionals make up the Corio Intelligent Infrastructure behind CorioNet.
Corio says its infrastructure enables ISVs to respond to customer and competitive requirements for managed application offerings while avoiding costs involved with internally supporting an ASP line of business. The firm says the program provides a seamless service for customers because the ISV maintains the direct relationship with their customers.
Founded in 1998, Corio has developed strategic partnerships for its application suite, the Corio Intelligent Enterprise, with vendors such as Commerce One, E.piphany, PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP and Siebel Systems.
