Ensim Automates Exchange Provisioning and Deployment

Jul 16, 2001

Hosting automation provider Ensim Corp. announced today the first Exchange Appliance software that lets hosting providers fully automate the creation, provisioning and deployment of service plans based on the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

“With more than 60 customers worldwide, ServerXchange has proven that is reliable, secure and truly essential to the migration toward next-generation hosting infrastructures,” said Rosen Sharma, president and CEO of Ensim. “Ensim’s customers have asked for the capability to host Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, and we continue to meet and exceed their requirements for successful hosting operations.”

Ensim’s Exchange Appliance uses the features of Ensim’s ServerXchange hosting operation platform, designed to simplify installation of Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server messaging and collaboration plans sold either directly or through resellers.

The new Exchange Appliance offers three levels of control panels for multi-tiered administration by hosters, their resellers and end users; the capability to track Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server licenses, mailbox usage, reporting and billing; and the same Web-based user interface as other Ensim appliances for single-console management in mixed Windows, Solaris and Linux environments.

Other benefits of the Ensim Exchange Appliance include:

  • Drag-and-drop installation of Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
  • Ability to host multiple organizations on a single Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, with secure isolation between organizations.
  • Complete Microsoft Outlook functionality, including support for POP3, IMAP and secure Web access (OWA over SSL).
  • Built-in organizational templates for standard configurations with support for adding customer templates for differentiated plans.

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Ensim was appointed a Microsoft Certified Partner in June 2001. Ensim’s new standing with Microsoft now helps ISPs, Internet data center operators and hosting providers license the Microsoft applications directly through Ensim’s hosting operations platform, ServerXchange. For the hosting providers, Ensim’s new role helps them reduce time to acquire and deploy Microsoft applications, and lowers upfront capital expenses.

For example, using the drag-and-drop interface of ServerXchange, a hosting provider can load Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, or any other Microsoft application supported by Ensim, onto the target server. Within minutes, the application and pertinent tools are in place for immediate sales by the hosting provider and their resellers.

Ensim’s Exchange Appliance is currently available. Monthly recurring charges start at approximately $180 per month, including all the necessary Microsoft software licenses.
